Coaching
Review your own conversations and develop a more deliberate interviewing practice.
In conversation
Coaching creates time to examine a specific conversation rather than a general account of how interviews ought to work. The starting point is a situation the participant wants to understand better.
We explore the intention behind a question, the response it invited and the interpretation that followed. This helps separate a useful habit from one that has become automatic.
The next step is practical: a different opening, a more focused follow-up or a clearer way to record evidence. Learning returns to the participant’s own work.
